This hamper is handwoven by an association of more than 100 rural Wolof women in the West African nation of Senegal. The artisans hand-weave each of these hampers using abundant and renewable cattail stalks bound with salvaged plastic strips procured from a local mat factory. Crafting baskets allows rural women to earn income from the comfort of their community. These handcrafted baskets may vary slightly as compared to the the photos, as each set is unique.
